MHM was once again recognized as one of Knoxville’s in 2019! The group of 30 workplaces recognized were selected based on office policies, benefits, and anonymous employee input through third party surveys.  Over fifty years have passed since the firm was founded and MHM has continued to evolve and grow along with our community as one of the leading design practices in East Tennessee. We are honored to be named one of of 2019, and for that honor we owe thanks to our team for making this such a great place to work together while shaping our community.

On Monday, June 24th the YMCA of East Tennessee held an unusual “groundbreaking” ceremony to mark the beginning of construction of a new outdoor aquatics facility at the West Side YMCA.  This $3,000,000 project will completely transform the existing pool area into a more seasonal aquatics venue with amenities for a wider range of members.  MHM is teamed with Denark Construction to deliver this project in time to reopen in Spring 2020.

KEN AND BLAIRE MOSSMAN SCIENCE BUILDING RECOGNIZED

The Ken and Blaire Mossman Science Building at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been selected as an Outstanding Design in the 2019 , the premier competition honoring education interiors excellence. The 222,000 SF facility was designed to advance the research and teaching mission of the University, helping UTK reach its goal for consistent recognition as a Top 25 Public Research University.

TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS

For many years, MHM, among other individuals, have been building a new endowment at the UT School of Architecture to create the McCarty Holsaple McCarty International Travel Scholarship. The first annual set of scholarships were awarded this spring, helping five students pursue design studies in Germany, Poland, Italy, Finland and Spain in the coming school year. International study was a life-changing experience for many MHM staffers, and the firm is proud to help UT continue this legacy in the future.
